Hi guys couple of questions . My Satellite came with no jack , I've found a cheap one on ebay from a '70's Duster, so are they the same, ie generic for Plymouth/ Dodge cars .or specific ? And am I correct in thinking they hook under the bumpers ? And lastly I'm fitting steelies and dog dishes , so how do I get them off without damaging the powdercoating on the wheels

1.) yes, although the numbers stamped in them may be different.
2.) Yes they do hook under the bumpers (although I would never do that, I used to have a trolley jack in my cadillac at ALL times.
3.) Make yerself a wedge of wood from oak or something similar (hardwood). Push in from the side, lever n twist. DONT use a screwdriver, you will mark them in the end.

When banging caps back on, work round the edge, dont bang em in the middle as you can easily deform the centre.

I have a feeling that the bumper hooks vary model to model,the actual jacks are much the same. A £15 1 1/2 ton trolley jack is best,it won't bend your bumpers.

Bumper jack is just ya get oot of jail free card. if it must be used it has to be used in line with the bumper hanger

and they are not necessarily the point where the bumper bolt(s) are. hangers on some cars are L shaped hence chrome headed bolt can be 3 inches or so past the main support bar. mine just fits in the space for it and never comes out for anything other than having a good look at it.

trolley or bottle jack from machine mart should be good enough to pick up 1 corner at a time. under the diff at one end or other or under the cross member that your torsion bars go into at the front. i would suggest K frame but you can bend the bottom in, if you choose the wrong place and the (temptation is to jack up the complete front end) and if it slips it goes into the sump.

if you stuck a trolley jack in the boot get an old holdall or a jack in a bag

tie it down to the spare wheel . otherwise it will wander and give you a special ripple effect in the rear 1/4 s or smash the pins off the back of you rear 1/4 badges, both are vented and will puke trolley jack oil if left upside down. stops your boot floor rusting but knackers your tent/case/duvet/shopping/deadbody

Thanks Clivey , and all , another point I've just thought of , is the "foot" of the bumper jack used to hold the spare down ? if so I'll try and get one of these at a swap meet and use a trolley jack

Twice I've had to use bumper jacks when I've been caught out last time was o a C body

Downright dangerous things, you really have to get the car up high to get a wheel off, they can slip off and they will bend the bumper if you are unlucky. A small bottle jack or a good quality scissor jack placed carefully under the suspension is a good idea, you only need to raise the car 1/2" or so to get the wheel off. A pair of overalls and a roll of something to lie on would be handy as well, beats lugging a trolley jack about.

The trouble with C bodies is the flat top rear arch. It means jacking the body high enough to clear the tyre,no way can it be done jacking the rear axle.
