Dave, i'll try a soft plastic hammer and see, I might also try and seal the outside and see what happens..

I don't think a soft plastic hammer will do it. You need to peen the edge over to grip the blanking disc tighter. Try forcing some fuel resistant gasket sealer under the edge first and then tap that edge tight.

I did my original training as a TV engineer. In the old valve days a good whack on the top of the set often did actually work. ;)
