I remember him spouting off about his totally original 30's ford he had on a trailer once. Really making a point that is was "100% original, not like those crappy old things out on the field" There was a guy round our way called Bob Bennison, Now I am sure some of you remember him. Bob was a VERY knowledgeble guy, but never spouted off about it. But all that crap coming out of Tuckers mouth was too much for him. So Bob pointed out all h non original parts on that car of Tuckers! Laugh? I nearly bought a pint!
I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!

Anyway - we digress.

C'mon, more of you must be going to Billing. We always have a good Mopar display at the back of the field on Sunday.

'Anyone else booking into the hotel and up for a meal together in the evening?

Not keen on Billing, it's chock a block full of stuff I'm really not interested in. Having said that, if the new engine is in the Dart by then, it would be as good an excuse as any to put some miles on it...

I know what you mean Blue. Too many four door horrors, sheriff cars, and cowboy hats. But we have our own little show at the back of the field.

It's nice on a sunny day.

Jim forgot to mention the Dayvans with the dream catchers hanging from the RVM and the really crap banner with the wolf and Indian on it draped behind the seats.

Oh God, I forgot the dayvans, complete with stars and stripes paint jobs, and huge Confederate flags.

And of course, most people who go to Billing drive Yanks.

I hope I never have to drive a Yank.

I'll be there too all being well. Will be camping though.

Its only so I go into one of the tents that night and listen to the "Authentic Sounds" of a hill billy type band. :P They wind me up!!

In quite agree with earlier comments, I think some of the "Americana" types need to enjoy the hobby and not be all purist and precious about it.

I enjoy the hobby but choose not to place my musical taste within the 50's or 60's. It just seems that each event I have been to seems set on sticking with the notion that if you like american cars then you must listen to rockabilly.

I much prefer the sound of a MMA Camp at the bottom end of the field.

I agree Justin. I reckon the rockabilly stuff is for the chrome bedecked 50's cruiser types who like to dress period. They are the minority in this hobby, but for some reason their music always dominates this kind of event.

I don't want to be a teddy boy. I don't mind rockabilly for a few minutes, but then i get fed up with it, 'still, it could be worse, - it could be country. I'd rather have 60's 70's 80's, 90's & 00's music.

Anyway, for all this, Billing is a good event and worth going to.

I agree- music is usually pretty Naff!
although I did see Trexstasy play there a few years ago- Fantastic T Rex Tribute Band- one of the best around

I also dont get how the bloke on the microphone througout the day gets to openly play and sell his ripped off Rock n Roll/Sixties compilation counterfeit CDs to the public?

I saw T-Rexstasy support Gary Glitter about 15 odd years ago. It was Gary Glitters Xtra Special Gang Show. T-Rexstasy were absolutely great. I didn't know Glitter was into kiddy fiddling at the time :?
