4 door as well
Two doors have never sold well in Australia, Dunc, hence the coupe Falcons, early Monaros, and even the late Monaros never sold in great numbers.
In the days of the early GT's, it was an expensive, upmarket car, out of the reach financially of teenie boppers, and hence bought by family men who appreciated the four doors.
That has followed the Aus 'musclecar scene' through the years. While the concept of large engined, low(ish) stressed componented cars that can drive huge distances without drama tends to follow the US example (although, with regard to classic musclecars that is all myth. Very few of the old sixties musclecars ever really drove that far back in the day), the actual ownership pattern tends to be more European.
The other factor is that almost every Aus 'musclecar' built by a manufacturer over the years, right from the XR GT, was built to be a race car (and I mean proper race cars that go, stop and turn). This is completely different from the U.S. model of ownership, where the musclecars are basically toys for boys.
Good info Sandy one thing i like about the US Falcon is it was famous for doing some long runs wothout problem,it did 100k on the strac at Daytona only stoping to Refuel change drivers etc and then it did that big treck across the Deserts and Mexico without hickup, and did well of course in Rallys etc including wining the GT class at the 64 Montie Carlo Rally
I dont have the exact info to hand at the moment but thats roughly it.I nkow the Aus ones were also famous for going through the outback doing thousands of miles no problem
Shame I didnt look in my mirror an hour ago. Sat at the traffic lights, somebody was sat to my left saying I like your car, lights go green, I turn right and go sideways, THEN LOOK IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, to see the volvo police car. Luckily Igot a polite telling off and a producer for my MOT. The producer looks good though, where it says... Dodge challenger purple
Soory Denise i have just had a long search and i can not find it it was posted in last years events under the Preston cruise but i be that was deleted?
