Jeff's Dart - What would you do?

Post by Jeff »

So, I bought this '69 from Dave Madders, I had no intention on buying it, But he was giving it away. A pretty much rust free Californian 1969 Dart. Paint aint great, but is OK for now. Bought it as a non runner, although it would fire up and drive. Just a few problems, that Dave made me aware of.

So, I talk to Joe (my eldest) Who is now a qualified mechanic, who syas he is desparately missing his old '67 Barracuda. And I say to him... "look, I will buy this car, and get all the stuff it needs, and pay for it all" I will get you insured on the car, and you can use it. All you have to do. is fix it" "sound great" he says!

6 months later, the car has the inlet removed, a few head bolts removed, and nothing else! I have loads of new and used spares for it... Even a spare engine and trans! He says he will do it if he gets time.

I really have so little time to spare at the moment, and so much to do.

So, back to my question.... What would you do?

A. Cut my losses, and Sell it on.
B. Just keep it, look at it, and hope.
C. Swop for something else.
D. Stop whinging and tell myself "I should of known"

 :(

Day's work to get it going, stop fannying around. People make time for things if it is important enough to them.

I'll have it for spares :thumbright:

An Hour! What hour? Leave for work at 6AM get home about 9.30PM... Totally shagged... Then I have to do some painting, as my future in Canada kind of depends on that, Shower get to bed at about 1.30AM.

Pete, the painting is more important to me. That is the truth.

It is too good for spares!

Jeff, if you think Canada really is going to work for you and you are not being carried away with the romance of it all, it's option A mate, no messing!

On the other hand, if you are remaining here in the UK, at least for a while, can you make time to get it back together and cruise it as it is?

I know what you mean about time, that's why I'm having a huge clear out of vehicles...though I did end up working most of bank holiday weekend

Ivor... IF! I have sold me house! Moved out! SOLD the Coronet! Spent far too much money with the legal beagles in Canada, made 3 trips there over the last 6 months.

Listen, we are doing this, as we want a change of life, some adventure in our latter years. Not because we don't love the UK... Oohh I am going to get you when I see you matey! ;) ;)

Stop spoiling your kids! They obviously don't appreciate what you do for them.

And smack him on the head for smoking too.
