68 Charger dash

How does the needles come off the clock and the speedo on a 68 Chasger
Are we there yet dad ..... 10 to the gallon but worth it.

They pull off, be very very carefull or they will snap or bend, remember the speedo needle has a slight amount of pre load to hold it on the stop.

Cheers Alex, also what watt bulbs are in the instrument panel and can they be upgraded to make the instrument panel brighter, all the bulbs work but they just seem dim

I thnk you risk melting the coloured plastic domes over the bulbs if you uprate the bulbs

my have all gone like toffee apple toffee kinda bubbly

Just change the bulbs for new ones and clean the lenses, polish the clear cover for the guages before you re fit it and the bulbs will be well up to the job! clean the circuit board where any contacts are as well, this helps a lot! I seem to be fixing instrument panels all the time at the moment!

What wattage are the bulbs, mine have no marking, are they 2.5 volt or 5 volt or what

they will be 12 volt but 5 watts,I did some the other day.

Well, it's all done and back together, took the dash out to give it a freshen up and decided to repaint it and fit new bulbs i also got some of them instrument gauge overlays from ebay, won them on thursday, delivered on friday, fitted on saturday, the whole instrument panel looks like new, so glad i went that route, here's some pics of before and after.

i haev a set of overlays but not dared to start that job yet. How did you do the silver (chrome?) borders on the fascia?

Will, I used silver paint pen from any model or hobby shop, but i have a problem with the speedo, the needle now starts at 30mph and not zero, any one got any idea what i've done wrong :cry:
