Shaped perfectly to the rear of the car, even clearance to the boot lid surface is spot on. :?

No I'm with Richard and Clive... I cant see how it would create downforce. It's tilted the wrong way

It does look very GTO ish but the side lead off to contour with the shape of the boot so it cant have come off a goat! So it must be home made.

aircraft wing has a definite hump to the top surface when compared with the bottom

its all about faster air under than over, to create low pressure above the wing to fly.

if the flow of air over the boot lid follows the angle that that wing is at and the wing has exactly the same contour top and bottom it will do nout for lift or traction.

it may slow you down

or it may disrupt flow over the surface that previously slowed you down.

however given that Duck taping up your panel gaps and taking off your wing mirrors can affect 1/4 mile times (in a + way) i'd pretty much say its got to slow you down

I'd guess nothing but aesthetic (depending on your view point) appeal went into its design.

have heard it said that the super bird went faster not because of the wing but because of the effect of upright supports allowing faster cornering speeds on oval banked tracks, dunno if thats true or not. would suggest anything that could make the steering end go all light and floaty at speed is bad...mind you'd have to be going very fast.
