Volunteers wanted

Post by Derek »

Ive been asked to pass this on, I know it's the weekend of the EuroNats, but you never know.

Dear Derek

Please find attached some information on BEN and volunteering at the British International Motor Show. Perhaps you could put this info onto your website homepage or in your newsletter, in case any of your members may be eligible for our help or be interested in supporting us.

What is BEN?

BEN is the only charity which cares for and supports automotive employees and their families in times of need. BEN is not cause specific, so we help families suffering from a variety of problems, including terminal illness, disability, financial difficulty and bereavement. BEN currently helps 15 000 people in their communities each year, through the provision of welfare grants and advice. BEN also has 4 nursing homes, an adult day care centre and a young disabled unit across the UK , which provide care to nearly 400 people.

Who is eligible for BEN’s help?

Anyone who currently works or previously worked (current or ex-employees) with cars, motorbikes, bicycles and associated industry, such as manufacturing, sales/marketing, body shops/repair, oil/fuel, rental/leasing, insurance/finance, motor sport etc. is eligible for BEN’s support.

Volunteering with BEN

Cindy also mentioned our need for volunteers to support our care and welfare services, as well as our fundraising activities. We truly value the work and efforts our volunteers give BEN. Each year, our team of volunteers across the UK work 11 000 hours and saves BEN over £60 000 in wages!

If you could kindly promote our volunteering opportunities to your members, on your website or via your newsletter it would be most appreciated. We have so many different types of volunteering opportunities, which hopefully will appeal to some of your members – and the best thing is that volunteering is a great way to make a difference and satisfy your needs without giving money.

Volunteer at the British International Motor Show 2008

BEN urgently needs volunteers to help our Events team fundraise at the upcoming British International Motor Show at ExCel, London , between 22 July – 03 August. Volunteering activities include helping man the BEN stand, selling raffle tickets, donation bucket collections and raising awareness of BEN. All volunteers would have their travel and lunch expenses reimbursed and will get to see the show for free!

Please can I ask you to kindly promote our Motor Show volunteering opportunity to your members. Even if only one of your members volunteered at the Motor Show, it would help us enormously.

Please can you let me know if you can promote BEN and our Motor Show volunteering opportunity to your members?

If you would also like to come and see some of the work we do at first hand, we do have our Head Office and one of our nursing homes in Ascot, Berkshire . I would be delighted to invite you there to show you around and discuss ways to work more closely together. Please do let me know if you’d be interested and I’ll arrange a date that suits you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards

Adam Hanrahan

Why the motor trade :? , do they have a charity for the plumbing industry?

Maybe ask them to set up a charity for the MMA members , surely a few could do with some help. :D

:?

Why the negative feedback guy's, dont forget this country used to have a motor industry. BL for one had a massive workforce and many sub-contract firms supplying parts etc. Why should'nt old and ill motor industry worker's of this country be looked after when they need help. Ben do a lot of good work and all they are asking is for anyone near the event for a bit of help in exchange for free entry to the show.

Charity in the plumbing industry  You don't see much of that.
