Plugs telling a story

Post by Anonymous »

These are from my last run , a much more aggresive tune than Nos reccomends for there cheater plate running 150 horses.

The fuel jet on this run was two steps smaller than the jet chart from Nos , fuel pressure as per chart.

Plugs are numbered from left to right , lost number 8 plug , so put a pic of a new one out the box.

These plugs were idled off the track back to the pits , so a slight discolour on the top of porcelaine.

Plugs are pig rich appart from No 4 , must be some kind of blockage on the fuel spray bar holes around no 4 runner , anyhow , i think something is amiss somewhere. Timing mark looks pretty good on the ground strap , but a little too much on No 4 cylinder.

No 4 plug looks pretty good as far as tune up goes , but don't wanna lean out anymore to bring the rest of the cylinders in line. :help:

Gonna swap the cheater plate for an NX twin Gemini plate , hopefully the tune might balance out a bit better.

Looks like a lot more could've been had with a bit more tuning , but can't take the risk on No 4 leaning out.

Any more ideas on No 4 cylinder being sooooooooo lean compared to the rest? , will do a run NA & check plugs , will tell me if there's a problem when off the bottle.

Compression ? losing a lobe on the cam on exhaust side, header tube more restrictive, not letting out previous charge, rogue plug??

Normal NGK plugs Dunc , just using 8s instead of 6s.

Only cut the threads off , same as any other plug.

Edit...Using eddy heads.

They might sound good Will , but if you loose a ground strap with irridium plugs you can kiss good bye to the piston , also difficult to read the timing mark on the strap.

Think I used to run NGK B8ES in my B1, will check ,later. I found them to be a good plug, never had any issues which were down to them.

Lean on 4

Adam could be a weak spring on the inlet valve will be interesting to see what a difference you get with the NX set up?
If its the same then you should tune to the No 4 cylinder to play safe until you find the reason for the unequal mix in 4 cylinder.
BTW I have heard of chopping plugs but that's classic :D

We talked about this on saturday , do you remmember? :D

Yea Bob , gonna tune for that cylinder , got a feeling it's the plate , will spray the plate into a bucket & see from there.

Pulled 1.5* per 50 shot , would of liked to of seen the results of the tune if all went well , could've pulled another 1.5lb of fuel pressure me thinks.

Don't know from memory , but the LSA is too tight for nitrous (108) , should be running @ least 112/114 , probably goin straight out the EX valve. :D

Prob need to change the vertor too , seems to be blowing right through it.

Motor was'nt built for nitrous , only thougt about cheetin after it was built. :D
