oil spray 68 dart gts 4spd A833

Post by gmopar59 »

I have a slight oil spray from bottom of dipstick tube when hot. Could the small sleeve which folds back as a seal be damaged & can i get a replacement? Thanks, Gerry

worth a try

could also try cleaning out ya PCV valve and check the pipe from it to base of carb.

it should plug into a 1/4 inch or there abouts pipe into the base of one of the carbs

the pipe should be below the throttle plates

it should provide enough manifold suck to stop or at least assist with this kind of thing.

your filler cap will be vented to allow the PCV to work however its not supposed to be so vented as to be like its not there. some were packed with a kind of wadding which magically disappears, depends on the engine

Tiz also worth checking how accurate your dipstick is

you may find its way out and you are actually running too much oil, its foaming and causing your issue.

you will need to know the sump capacity
drain oil

and measure it going back in

check dipstick

then drain the lot again. new filter and put the same amount of brand new in + a filters worth.

or just sink a filter in a bucket until the bubble stop and try to get it on without making a mess......never works very well

check dipstick.

Hacksaw a new line if necessary.

in a standard engine run a 25w50 oil, modern multigrade is a bit too thin

are you running rich if so your oil level may be rising due to unburnt fuel washing down the bores. in extreme circumstances it results in what you describe

basically the oil should not smell like unleaded petrol.

what you have in your drian tray should still put out a well aimed fag end. (only do that experiment outside)
