Idler arm query

Post by MattH »

My Oz Charger needs an idler arm, advised play on the MOT.
Questions-
Do you replace the whole thing or Bananarama!?

How heavy are they? - My cousin from Oz arrives in a few weeks and can bring one across depending on the weight.

I dont have a spare to weigh and have never done the job before :help:
Also can't get under the car at the moment due to crutches and bandaged ankle.

Matt, I replaced one for my MOT. Whole arm with bushing came from USAutomotive. Not very heavy, relatively small part, can't be sure but approx 8-9" I think.
You'll enjoy the improved feel to the handling as well!

Matt replaced mine with an american part from the kit I bought from PST strange thing was my origonal one was straight but the new one had a bend in it and the bolt hole was bigger but the steering was back to normal it must only be a couple of pounds in weight ,interesting thing is that I am useing the US type lower ball joints they fit OK (and are very cheap) only thing was I had to trim 1/8 inch of the track control arms to get enough adjustment for the toe in

just thought

could you use the one off the challenger, don't look like they would be handed.

According to james B USAutomotive have a interchange list for Aus/american parts ive never had to test them out though

just thought again

i'm worn out now

Ive just orderd a recon oil pump from the geezers at pentastar parts.

was at 5-10Lb at 1000rpm after the traffic jam on the way to the ace..probably the relife valve but didn't want to pull it to bits and find it wasn't

if you order an idler am happy for you to piggy back in the same box to save on postage.

mine is order 11429

mine is on a standard rate which will take a while to come

i work in watford (tolpits lane) so you could either pick it up or have a work colleague who may be passing pick it up
Or
J17 J18 M25 are both on my way home if they happen to be parked up waiting for dodgy lorries speeders etc

or i could send it however that may be the extra expense that makes it not worthwhile. PM me if ya fancy
