Kev take a look at the plug reading tech page on our site.

You're fine sticking in what everyone else has for a start BUT no 2 motors are ever the same, to be spot on you really need to do plug checks.

Yeah, I know about reading plugs. I need to know if I need a projected tip, flat tip, Accel, NGK, Champion etc. I will buy three sets hot to cold for fine tuning. The plugs for Eddys ain't the same as iron and I'm getting conflicting info off the Net. Even the Eddy site is no help. I think I've settled on a 5/8" Hex NGK R5672 in ranges -8, -9 and -10 but I'd like some input from fellas running the Eddys over here. Thanks anyways!

Thanks for the info. What cam you running Cliff? And are your Eddys 84cc. Did you have to machine them for your cam? I've been all day researching plugs (what a way to spent me Birthday :D ) and I'm down to NGK BCP6ES or BCPR5ES as these are readily available. Or the Champ RC12 YC.

Kev, if you go to a piston manufacturers website someone like Ross and look at their 440 pistons they list compression ratio relative to head volume If you're running flat tops this will give you some idea of what compression ratio u can achieve I think their figures are for zero deck height and .040"head gasket.
Camshaft is Crower solid in.575 ex.584 263/266 duration at .050"
Edelbrock recomend Champion RC12YC or equivilent in the instructions that come with the heads, open and closed chamber, easy enough to get hold of as are used in some modern european motors
mine are the open chambers with .050" cut off making them approx.76cc and I'm using Keith Black stephead slugs
hope thats some help birthday boy

Cheers Mate. Much more sense than the Yanks! I was gonna use NGKs as they got them Zeros to Pearl Harbour and back, 'til some Yank (who wasn't offended  ) said the Japs lost the war and them P38s had Champions :D He had me there! Thanks for the info. I've read the Eddy's have a max valve lift of .600" and mine's .563/.572. so it should be cool. I've got pop up speed pro forged pistons and i'm looking for around 11.5:1..... Nice to have your input Cliff. See you at Shakey!

Has anybody else seen the pic on an individual NGK box?

Makes me smile every time, its a picture of a microlight plane with a big red X thru it!

In other words "our product is not to be trusted if your life depends on it" :D :D
