MadM, did you do anything new to drop to 14's ? Or was it just technique. Or is it a secret? ;)

Mick, why not go with a 360? Much lighter than a 383 and tons of performance parts for 'em. 408 stroker version is a temptation!

A big block will see a SB off. It is not only the BHP but importantly the torque. A 383 can be cheap as chips, but piston choice can be hard these days; and if you are going to spend money on a stroker then get a BIG stroker - a 440 to a 500 (or bigger) is the most affordable it has ever been. Speed still costs, though.........plus all the other parts that will need upgrading.....

Now there is a quote! Surely if that were the case all BB cars would ALWAYS beat SB cars?

Pal of mine has a SB camaro... drives it to and from the track, and has run consistant 9 sec 1/4's for the last 6 years! Best of 8.8sec! And yes, it is always driven on the street!

Pete I would agree with you if you said a 440 but because of the weight per cubic inch the 360 has over the 383 I would go for a 360 all day long. You can get so many bits for the 360 and its easy and cheep to stroke it to 408 and even bigger

It's not just cubes, in my opinion it is also flow levels on the heads and other factors.

I just know from experience that a BB is easier and potentially cheaper.....

I could fit a 383 in mine... A 440 would need the engine compartment to be widened. Or a 360 stroker.....

What about a 400ci? I have found one of those locally that is running real nice!
