Have you registered it at the DVLA yet?

If not, then it aint legal.
If you have registered it and you are waiting for the reg index / paperwork to come through, then technically it is taxed, as you've paid for it when you registered it ( unless it was free )

You can also re-tax a car online now ( I did it last month and it was posted to me ) so why not?
The only issue I can think of, and here's where they get ya..... is that you won't be "DISPLAYING" a valid tax disc.

I've seen enough Limo's around here driving on US Plates after they've 1st been imported. So why don't they get pulled? And they are usually working too, carrying people on girly nights out etc.

Up to you. Personally... I'd drive it

Jules, I think Longshot got the MOT today, in which case it won't be registered yet. If memory serves me right it took a week or two from submitting the documents to get the registration number. And as you rightly say, it is an offence not to display a tax disk whether the vehicle is taxed or not.

I took th A12 Roadrunner to the Nats on US Plates with an MOT and "insurance" but not registered or taxed. Not sure I would do it again.

Drove the Challenger T/A around fora year on NY state plates until I got a tug. I took the hint then....at your own risk, but it ain't legal in my opinion.

i drove me charger on Aussie plates for a month.
i just pretended i was an Aussie and of course i had my aussie tax disk and my aussie licence. none of which were valid but.....

taxed MOT insured on the VIN and the plate i was dsiplaying as a side note. insurance on the vin was 3rd party only

i even got a wave from the cops

its wrong

but then again so am i

Deffo NOT legal untill you get reg and tax disc from DVLA.

Go to your local DVLA centre fill in the correct form for first reg in UK, pay the fee give them all the import paperwork, MOT etc and they give you age related plate and a tax disc with the log book to follow on from Swansea.

At my local DVLA centre they sorted mine out and phoned me up to tell me it was done and ready to pickup THE SAME DAY. It only took them a couple of hours to do the paper work, i went back the next day and picked up my paperwork and a free tax disc.

Tax in the window , get your new reg plates made and put them on and your legal.

INSURE IT,MOT IT, REGISTER IT form is 55/5 and it is £55.00.They will then send you a tax disc in the post with a new MOT with your UK reg the log book will take up to 21 days. BUT YOU CAN DRIVE THE CAR AS SOON AS YOU HAVE REGISTERED IT i did this only a week or so ago and have still not got the log book so still can not get UK plates made for it. the DVLA said that this is not my problem and as long as i have the paper work it would be fine to drive it

you can use US plates now as well,they have rescinded the colour and plate size now as well
