Fitting a chute

Post by Anonymous »

Hi can anyone give me any info or point me in the direction of a site which shows the detail for the fitting of a chute anchor.
I have managed to find one picture of a rice burner with it attached to the rear of the roll cage but nothing on mopes.
In addition as I see it the main chute tube wants to pass through the fuel cell.
As all the info I have indicates the anchor tube being a straight connection to the car with diagonal braces I may have to think out of the box?
Thinking aloud the chute should be on the centreline of the car across its width but the height would be critical to high and it would lighten the front end to low and it would try to lift the rear.

:help:

If I was you, I would be talking to Andy Robinson or Geoff Hauser, the chute is a safety critical component, fit it wrong and you have a big problem.

If you can wait till next week, I can send you some pictures, details, etc. Nothing too difficult about it, providing you use the right materials & can do a decent weld

Thanks guys pictures would be great I have the fitting kit from summit but am sure it will need modding to suit so all info would be gratefully accepted.
In particular some dimensions from floor to chute tube anchor hieght. :thumbright:
Slick you should have tagged me last night It felt like a rugby scrum and I could have done with a scrum half.
luckily no one hurt and no involvement if you know what I mean but I fig it was a close call.
It reinforces my feelings right time and right place :-$

Hi Knightcharger, I had a look at mine today and it's mounted from a tube welded between the the rear chassis tubes, and I measured it from the ground to the attachment point and it was 15.5" that is about the same as the middle of my rear wheels the bolt is large about 3/4" with a nylon spacer I've pulled down the end of the chute in the picture, I hope this helps :thumbright:
