NPT/BSP airline fittings options??

Post by MrNorm »

I need to plumb in a regulator/drier to my compressor, it's a US unit so has NPT fittings. The inlet is 3/8" NPT and the outlet is 1/4" NPT.
I need to plumb a hose from my compressor to the inlet, and a PCL quick release fitting on the outlet.

What are my options? Can I easily/cheaply get an NPT/BSP adaptor, can I just screw male BSP fittings into the female NPT ports (not 'proper' but I believe it works well for some sizes?), can I get a whip hose with an NPT end and a PCL connector at the other, etc etc.

Thanks

You never do anything the easy way do you Gav? :D

I remember doing the same thing years ago and getting NPT/BSP adaptors from a place in Dunstable called Weld Air supplies, if I remember correctly...
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Thanks Mark, that is jolly decent of you!! :thumbright: Actually I'm pretty sure I still have an old roll of air hose that I could use if necessary for this, I'll only need a short length so I'd cut it up, so no need to take one off you - thanks for offer though.
However, I might find that buying a whip hose is as cheap as buying the fittings and making one from my old hose, hence my enquiry

Ivor, I generally find easy=more expensive :D :D But it is also quicker :( Just a generalsiation which like any does not always hold true but usually does!
Back to time and money again!!

I'll try to see if Weld air can help, thanks :thumbright:

Any other leads - especially on whether the fittings can be interchanged? I know for a fact that this can be physically done on some sizes, but not sure which. I have all the technical data - this is 'shade-tree' experience I'm looking for here!!

If I have to get fittings, I was wondering if they might be commonly available from some other industry, maybe hydraulic fitting suppliers or whatever, so I could pop in somewhere local

So keep em coming

Gavin, just seen this and I am going away for two weeks!!! Ivor could you speak to Ryan at TVH? Ask him to put the parts in the post and I'll sort it when I get back, I think you have the number.
