What with people building Superbird clones, Cuda clones, and Icecream clones, and a clone winning this years Nats, will there be a "Clone Class" at next years Euro Nats.

I do not have a problem with clones or tributes cars as the difference is reflected in the price.
One problem with numbers matching high value cars is that they are very difficult to live with. You cant park and leave them, every mile you put on the car is actually deavaluing the thing and if they get scratched or stone chipped or the intierior snagged it can realy tick you off.
However I do have a problem with clones that are passed off as original number matching cars buyer beware.
I think the amount (and quality) of work that goes into a lot of these clones makes them more than impressive in their own right. There's no way I will ever be able to afford most of these cars, unless I win the lottery, I can't really afford the one we've got! But I've got more chance of one day MAYBE owning a clone car that would make me feel damn near as good as an original. Fair play, I say. Lot of hard work for a good looking / driving result most of the time.
Can we have a "Best Rust-ification" class, next time... Might get in that one!
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

Exactly ..........that`s why there should be a "CLONE CLASS" or "RECREATED CLASS" or whatever you want to call it, at the next Nats.

Nothing wrong with em. The only difference between a clone and the 'real thing' is a couple of stampings in well hidden places. With the bonnet shut, boot lid shut and a show flyer on the dash NO ONE could tell the difference if they have been done properly.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with Mr R, but I do...as prices level out, which they are already doing, I think we'll see more genuine cars back here in the UK and I think judging clones or re-creations with the real deal could cause a real headache.
The clone or re-creation class could also include tribute race cars or customs...I think it's a great idea and something the Nats committee ought to consider.
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.
Is that not just introducing snobbery? lets not get too full of ourselves, none of these cars are anything special anyway, hemi cars and 318s were all chucked together by the same bored hungover workers in between taking the P out of their mates and reading the paper on the bog...its not like we're a vintage bugatti club or something...
