Lokar cable ajustment

Hi guys, just fitted a lokar cable to replace the worn rods,
and not sure if I've adjusted it correctly.

Throttle wide open, kickdown lever pushed all the the back
towards the rear of gearbox, it now seems to hang between gears,
changes into 2nd at 15mph and 3rd at 25 mph.

Before i never really noticed it changing up?
but now it seems to hang there and change with a thump.

With the throttle lever fully back , you want around 1/4" free play left in the kickdown lever.
