Mike asked me to forward this about the anti-roll bar.

"The original ends were inserted 1.5" into tight fitting holes in the larger diameter bar before being welded in place. They are very strong and shouldn't go anywhere."

I think we should sign him up don't you Simon ;)

My point was that you can't weld a spring. Which is what the anti roll bar is.A tempered torsion bar. Unless it has been brought up to temperature and retempered.

You do have a good point. Heating any kind of spring is not ideal, and carries a risk.

I tried to make sure I did not put too much heat into the bar, and certainly the main bulk of the bar will be fine, but the ends are sure to have tempered slightly. The only upside is that this is not a very critical component in the suspension, unlike a spring, and the ends should now be softer, not harder, and therefore will only bend, not break (fingers crossed).
