Nice figure Fingures! Notice any difference since the rebuild?

Dave, me old chum! :D What figures could my 340 be making once its rebuild? (Currently at Baccy's) its 30th over with stock comp ration forged pistons (10.5-1) that have been milled 70th for head clearence on the Edelbrock Performer's. I dont have a intake, cam or Carb yet but I was going to go with the Edelbrock performer rpm package for the 340. very vague I know, but a vague figure is bettwer than none. :thumbright:

If the compression is indeed that low it would take peak HP down to 292hp.
Do I win a prize??? ;)

Andy, that cam will require a decent stall and prety deep gears, I suspect.
ive just bought a 268 XE comp cams jobby for my 360, but i'll have 2400 stall and at least 3.55s in it.
No hijack intended, what gears are you running in the car, Fingers?

I have found that Desktop Dyno under estimates my 440 by about 25hp. Probably because of the lack of detailed head/induction flow information.

I can't say if it under estimates small blocks or not. Keep your fingers crossed Fingers. ;)

This is a BIG cam for a small block. You will need a 3000rpm converter at least and adjustable rockers. A 750cfm DP Holley on an air gap manifold will work well.

ENGINE: CHRYSLER 318-340-360 V8
RPM RANGE: 1500-6500

Duration at 0.006" Lift: Intake: 308° Exhaust: 318°
Duration at 0.050" Lift: Intake: 234° Exhaust: 244°
Lift at Cam: Intake: 0.325" Exhaust: 0.340"
Lift at Valve: Intake: 0.488" Exhaust: 0.510"
Timing at 0.050" lift: Open Close
Intake: 10° BTDC 44° ABDC
Exhaust: 59° BBDC 5° ATDC
Centerlines: Lobe Separation - 112° Intake Centerline - 107°

Note: Use only stock ratio rocker arms.

CAUTION: Use Edelbrock Performer-Plus Timing Chain and Steel Gear Set #7803. Do not use late model timing chain and gear sets that are designed for emission-controlled engines. These timing sets are machined in a retarded position and are not recommended for this camshaft installation. Edelbrock Timing Sets feature three keyways for specified timing selection.

Do not use dual valve springs. Use only recommended Edelbrock Sure Seat Valve Springs #5777. Use stock ratio rocker arms only.

Yes you did Andy. You said;
Edelbrock performer rpm package for the 340.
That was the cam details I posted above and the cam Miles is refering to.

See I told you I never even knew. Bugger, I was told that would be a nice combo for the 340, ah well! :D

I'm just looking for something that would work well with what I have already.

Yes mate, compared to how it used to be it feels like it goes like the clappers, and to quote my best mate "Jeeze, for the size of the thing it don't arf go well". 8-)

TBH if it turns out to be around the 300 mark I will be as chuffed as chips as I was expecting 250-260. I will let everyone know as soon as I have a definite figure.

Here's another to start a debate. What do we reckon it will do on the strip? High 14's - low 15's? Again I don't really know what to expect from her but I'd be happy to knock a second off my time.

Don't forget that you need the right gearing to get the best ET out of whatever power you have.
