VAT CUT - who is going out to spend spend spend??

Post by newport100 »

Not many I reckon?- meanwhile I have a week to totally reconfigure our invoicing software and change 10,000 prices on our computer system , website and ebay (which means editing each listin - close to 2000 items)

not expecting much sympathy coz we all want cheaper stuff- but this a quite a mammoth task without too much notice!

plus I reckon peeps will hang onto any money they save rather than buy more :-k

10% would have been a bit more interesting. or eliminate it on essentials like food . It was supposed to be a tax on luxurys wasn't it? I have it in the back of my mind that digestives are not subject to VAT but chocolate ones are.

Under EU laws we can't go lower on VAT than 15%, Germany has MST and it's 15% I think. MST is Merverstaur or something. It doesn't stand for Must Start Trouble as we used to call it

I feel for all the retailers who have to change every price tag etc, that'll cost them more than the 2.5% it saves us.

At least its for 13 months or something.

What chokes me is its all way too little way too late.

Austrailia saw this coming 10 years ago and as a government of a country are "debt free".

Seems like we exported some smart accountants at the same time we got rid of our robbers and muggers !!!

If only I didn't have two kids (who I love dearly so don't take this the wrong way) I'd be off to OZ like a shot

I'm up at 3.50am cos I'm stressed about money, I'm on my 5th cup of mint tea !!

Do you really think all retailers will actually cut 2.5% off everything? :? Time to take a calculator shopping.....
Can't you bring the kids with you to OZ? George loves it, or is it more complicated.
