Dave Napier Report from the National Finals....

Post by Dave-R »

Dave "Tig" Napier has this report......

Quick (ish) report from the National finals. Weather was good, car was doing wheelies again but not so hi. We ran in the mid to lo 9.7's all weekend and we got to the semi's. One timing ticket told us we had the potential to go 9.60's as we were a whole 1/10th up at the 590 ft marker (strange increment I know but thats the pod for ya). Our .03 light v's the other lanes .50 meant we backed off at the 1/8 th and cruised to the win. Mph was down a tickle and alternator voltage was erratic at hi rpm, though it didn't cause any misfires. Checked it out when we got home and the alternator ground was bad, probably due to the anodised bracketry that holds it on. Anyway we ran a seperate earth from the block to alternator and the gauge showed we picked up 1v at idle, now the gauge reads 14.3 v and doesn't drop when the accessories are started. Also the idle has cleaned up. I've heard that these MSD systems can cause the engine to lose power if the input voltage isn't correct so maybe we could have picked up a bit . Motor and box are coming out for a freshen up and more mods / upgrades as we need to find another 100hp to reach our ET targets. It never ends
Thanks.

Just take a look at those rear springs!

Those headers look like titanium! Superb car and a brilliant result, well done Tig and Cath and thanks Dave for posting.
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.
