been having a problem with the brakes on the 68 charger - have about 1 inch of brake travel and no brake lights. so decided to check them today. Took the rear drums off and the pads look OK have about a 1/4 of pad left, however when I took the drivers side drum found this cable floating around. I think it is called the adjuster cable, mounts at the top with a huge eye and the other end attaches somewhere at the bottom....
Looking in the manual for the 69 charger it tells me it is an adjuster cable but the one in the book appears to have a different end where it attaches at the bottom of the brakes.
Before I go an order a new brake adjuster cable does it make any difference? The cable if complete would be about 10 inches long. I really need to learn more about cars

Both types of cable were used depending on the set up, take a pic of your brakes and we can see if everything else it should have is there and then I can check if I have a cable for you, it works on the tab type thing that sits on the star wheel btw..

Just out of curiousity this being broken would that effect my pedal travel? Correct answer is yes

It's only an auto adjuster. Without it you can adjust yer brakes manually every year and they'll be fine.

Depending on brakes size it also holds the lower spring in tension and at the correct angle Kev...
