Small world....
Mate of mine, well, a colleague where I work, went to that yesterday too. He and his brother just bought a Defender a couple of weeks ago for a bit of off-road fun, and as he lives in Luton, had this in mind for a first outing.
The Defender is stock except some slightly knobblier tyres and they only had problems when water got into the distributor cap - he says a rubber glove is the usual fix to keep the water out!
They got to pull a couple of lightweights out too, only a Suzuki & a Frontera.... but it's a start

Si - he's also a bit of a kite-flyer like yourself :) Not as hard-core, but hey, who is :? ;)
