Legal question....

Post by Jeff »

If your car is busted, and while you are waiting for the correct part to arrive, is it legal for the car to be parked on the street with one front wheel off, and placed safely on an axle stand?

There is a bloke down the road that is giving Bill, me and Joe grief! He complained about us be fore we moved in to this house, the night I parked the Dart on the drive he started moaning.

I just want to make sure it is OK before I confront him.

Anyone know?

Matt's your man on this Jeff, but if the car is taxed MOT'd and insured, unless it is causing an obstruction or a danger to others, you are legal.

It has to be safe. IE if it is caught by passing car will it fall on little Jonny on the pavement.

I think I'd put the wheel back on but leave it on the axle stand, hopefully not attracting too much attention. But with tax, insurance and MOT it shouldn't be an issue.

MATT where are you????

It is taxed, MOT'd and insured, safely on one axle stand in a quite, wide road. He is waiting for a driveshaft for it! It will not fall off the stand. Nothing to bolt the wheel to at the moment.

Usually in cases like this it is best to avoid confontation. Just talk quietly to him. Don't raise your voice.

Just tell him to try and be reasonable and patient about it.
The car will be fixed soon and there is nothing to get all stressed about.
Then tell him if he doesn't keep his big nose out of your 'ing business you will have his house and everyone in it burned down to the ground in the middle of the night. :thumbright:

personally I'd go round to his house and lay down a few ground rule's! tell him if he dont keep his beak outta your business 'Bad' things are gonna happen to him!

I had new neighbors move in a few months ago. They called the police on me for playing music at 11pm. No warning, no polite call to turn down the music(which was not even loud) First thing I know there was an issue was that I got knock at the door. Well the next day I went over and sorted that crap out and have a few words about how things are gonna be done from now on! No hastles now!

Yes guys.... That is a good way to do it.... And I must admit, that is usually how my side of the family do things. BUT, at the moment I must be good and not get into any trouble. One sniff of that can destroy our visa application that is finally processed January. :thumbright:

Jeff its probably the fact that he's a hopeless, pen pushing technophobe with no mechanical skills what so ever
Add to that he has to watch you fix your cars in front of him at times....its a bit like shoving a bloke with no Pecker onto a porno set

Tell him you can fix his car if the time ever arises, then cut his brake lines and leave it pointing down hill :D
