Yep, that was me who bought it.
In all honesty I probably paid too much but I've always wanted a VE.

Take it you know the (Ex :( ) Brisbane Taxi if you've been here a few years? Would be quite cool to see Kiwi Cabs about. :thumbright: Nice looking motor you got there. 8-)
I have heard of the Brisbane taxi, It's a black VC with a big block isn't it?

Won't be there unfortunately, got a wee bit of work to do to get her back on the road.
namely,
buy and fit new trans cooler,
fit rad hoses, thermostat housing, overflow bottle,
Sort out rear suspension (tyres touch leaf springs when cornering, Bushes?)
driveshaft or diff? wobble at speed
New auto choke or convert to manual choke.
Accelerator pump not working properly.

So nothing too major, but will take me a while as I dont have much spare time.

It don't exist any more. It wouldn't sell so got cut up for spares. Was 318 and NOS powered. Ran 11s.

The Brisbane Taxi! (R.I.P.) :thumbright: 1 very uncareful owner, cut to pieces but still refused to fit into suitcase for a long holiday to Aus.

Few bits of it currently residing in various garages around the country.

Got any more detailed photo's of your Valiant? :read2:

Simon,

Check your wheels for balance first.

I spoke to a guy from Yorkshire 2 years ago who was ebaying a perfectly serviceable original VE Valiant that he had bought slapped some stupid green paint and black stripes on and had the hubs redrilled so he could fit a set of corroded and horrible unilug wheels he found at a swap meet!

Looks suspiciously like yours!

My money is on a bad job of redrilling the lugs.

That car has an awful lot of potential and is a good solid base. If you paid anything like what the original seller was asking me then you definately paid too much IMO?

But then at the time I posted a big rant on here about ebay 'restoration' cars! And it was mostly as a result of that conversation with that seller.

My guess is since you joined our noble cause that you are not the next in a line of ebay speculators to have bought another Aussie car to be resold as a 'completely restored' (meaning knackered) 'awsome muscle car' (meaning 2bbl 318).

If there is any help I any offer you, just ask.
