Hi all, has anyone here had much experience with Triumph Herald front suspension? I have a bit of a camber issue with the front of my Lotus Eclat (uses Herald suspension on front). I have replaced the lower trunion and bushes as these were knackered, which made no difference to the camber. I can't see anything bent and all the bushes seem to be fine as is the top ball joint. I have noticed today that the shock/spring top mount is buggered but I can't see how that would have nuch effect on the camber on this suspension ser up. Any hints or advise other than bin it, burn it or Bananarama! would be much appreciated .
if my memory serves me right (at my age it dosnt always) the herrald had shims (i think) on the A arms to adjust this but if its suddenly gone wrong i would look further at it to see if something has bent or broken, camber dosnt just change without a reason.
The front set-up is like this
It had the camber issue when I bought the car along with a few other issues but I expected this to be down the the knackered trunion.
I have a horrible feeling the Chassis is bent.
between the inner mount for the lower arm and the chassis you should find some spacers, if its the chassis out of alignment get it put on a propwr jig and sorted out otherwise you will be running round in circles trying to get it all correct.

I'll have a look next weekend and see what spacer's are there or not. If the Chassis is bent I will probably replace it with a galvanised one. Will cost about the same and make more sense.

The passenger front wheel is upright as you would expect it to be and the drivers front leans in quite a bit at the top. its enough for you to notice it without looking for it. If anything I'd say it is out at the bottom.
Your headlight vacuum canisters leaking too then???Ive got one of those in the yard at work, when your driving they go down fine but when you stop they slowly appear one by one.
Horrible car in general IMHO,this one may well be up for grabs as a parts car soon..
This is turning out to be a pain in the ass! I have re-wired mmost of the car and fitted a new fuse box to a different location, replaced most of the suspension bushes, and now I'm waiting on a new top mount for the O/S/F and a new tensioner pulley for the timing belt. I havn't even driven the thing yet and I keep finding things wrong with it! I think I will use it for a bit and ebay it. And yes the vacume canister is ruined too, one of many std problems for these.
I have noticed when driving our one, that when you turn sharply it feels like something is drastically wrong on the front end, feels like the tracking is miles out.You fight the thing round corners.
Maybe I have the same problem..
