So many carpet suppliers – any recommendations?

Post by Anonymous »

Afternoon all,
Was just about to order a new carpet for my '69 Chrysler 300 (I did a thing in members' car show about it).

There seems to be an enormous number of companies in the US who sell carpets, ranging from $120 Lonestar Carpets on Ebay.com to $300 ACC carpets and ECS. Now I guess you get what you pay for but not being loaded I'm looking in the sub-$200 range.

The colour I want is a dark green, which in all the cheaper suppliers colour swatches comes up as part no. 509. Are these all the same carpets being sold by different suppliers?

I was going to go with Dante's Mopar Parts as I've heard good things, I'm happy enough with their sample and they can supply a trunk mat too. Anyone have experience? However they want $175 for postage, which seems excessive (Stock Interiors want $120 and Lonestar want $81.50).
Other companies I've come across are Trim Parts, Hardens Muscle Car World, Nicksclassicparts and Stock Interiors.

Anyone got any advice? thanks :)

In my experience Dante's takes some beating, their product quality and service has been absolutely superb.

What's more their shipping was competitive too.

Are you sure those shipping costs are like-for like? Sounds like a massive difference for the same stuff!

Cheers,
The thing that confuses me about Legendary is that they list one carpet for 65-69 C-bodies and another for 70-74.
Weird as the 68 and 69 are completely different, it should be 69-70-71 grouped together. I rang them about this but the person I spoke to could offer no explanation. Would be a bit worried about getting the wrong carpet.

Spoke to Legendary again. The bloke again reckoned the 69 has a different floorpan to the 70 and it needs the same carpet as the 68.
Now, I've asked this question on the C-bodydrydock forum ages ago and they reckon the 69 and 69 are totally different.
They also say they can't give me a price for shipping until it's all ready to go. I think Dante's are getting the order..

BTW, E-mail six-pack, they've got nothing at the moment but might have in March.

Just be careful with yr one, they've just had me over like a kipper on $300 shipping for a manky carpet.

I'm very angry and they're not listening

You have to specify shipping to Year One. It is the carrier that sets the cost of delivery. That is not Year Ones fault.

Did you specify air delivery or UPS or something?

When I have dealt with Year One in the past Viper, I've always telephoned and organised everything over the phone and never had a problem with shipping, they've always been very helpful.

I did the same with Dante, did a double check on the shipping and they actually sent my carpets and trim panels in separate packages, which saved a load on shipping. :mytwocents:

Don't wanna take over this thread but I guess it's relevant.

Over the last couple of years in dealing with y1 I have never ever had an issue. They quote price INC SHIPPING and ask if I want to go ahead.

This time because Mike Lancaster has gone, they just shipped the part after my initial enquiry, no quote nothing.

Consequently they will not respond to my mails and simply stated that I had a quote but needless to say they can't find it.

Just beware...thats all I'm saying.

In between time and because of the lack of communication I went to Chris at WASP. We'll Gordon Bennet, I wish I'd talked to him years ago.

The carpet from yr1 cost me $500 (PLUS £85 poxy duty)the very same item from WASP ordered by him from year one, so same part, cost me £160 all in. (or there abouts)

I would recommend Chris and I just pick up the phone and he sorts it....Top fella.

Absolutely relevant boss!

I must admit Chris at Wasp has always done me a great deal, but I had no idea he did Year One stuff...sounds like the way to go! :thumbright:
