Roger 69 Dodge Charger 440 RT/SE

Post by Roger »

Well, its neen a long time (4 years!) since i posted any progress, mainly because there hasn't been any!

I bought the Charger back in 1999 and during spring 2000, patched it up to get it on the road.

By autumn it was in the garage for stripping.

Much cutting and welding was done, followed by a trip to the beadblasters, followed by more cutting and welding.

Followed by much body prep!

By 2005 we were ready for paint.

Originally the car was T7 bronze but as this is officially the nastiest colour ever applied to a mopar, it was binned in favour of T5.

All did not go quite according to plan however, with the base coat having considerable "shadowing".

With some help from Ivor we did a couple more test areas. Looking back now the last test we did was really good, but i was trying to achieve perfection, so somewhat disheartened, i closed the door and left it there.

Fast forward to november 2008, it was clear the bootlid needed some attention as some rust had appered that i must have missed. This was quickly sorted out, so attention has now turned to painting the shell again.

The shell has been dragged back into the centre of the garage to allow painting to commence. Much cleaning has been done to remove 4 years of dust etc.

In order to speed up the project, the gearbox will shortly be off to blue for a bit of a fettle, and the engine is tucked up at Peter Knights place for a freshen up.

Anyway, heres some pics of what been done so far.
