My local PO is a waste of time,they always con people into sending stuff Special or Recorded when there is no need
for example they said i should send my Postal Order to the MMA by special Delivery because its money..that's rubbish! you just cross the Postal order so only the Payee can Bananarama!, in this case the MMA so if it never turns up? then you just claim back the money from Royal Mail with the receipt from the PO they will no if it has been cashed or not? so no need to send it special costing nearly £4 extra.Another thing they do is say that you need to post something recorded to prove it was sent.That's rubbish! if you send something first class you can have a certificate of posting as part of the cost at no extra charge,so if its a legal letter then Photo Copy it and get a certificate of posting and that is all you need,just get a recorded if its important that you get a Signature.
And high value items send Special as its next day and they are insured if you tell them the value of the item when you post it.
Also second class gets treated the Same as First Class
i never send anything first class as the second class gets there just as quick and is cheaper.The other thing Royal Mail do to con you is if the letter is short of postage then they charge you an extra pound for it,i often get letter that rare 1p short so the customer has to pay £1.01 just to get there penny short letter someone has sent.
