Stu, its looking a lot different to the pile of pipe it started as. even knowing how it should look i didnt see it looking as it does, its an amazing kit of parts (well tubes) i hope to get the rest of it done and tacked together in the next week or two then it can all be welded up ready to be built up properly. i have some wild plans using some unusual materials to save weight i only hope it will pass scruitineering (and an MOT).
Fantastic work Trev, great vision and skill to tackle a job this big in yer shed. Hats off to you, great inspiration to us all. Three cheers for British shed engineering.
Been in the workshop tonight working on the lower shock mounts, got all the importanrt bits sorted(the load will be on the mating faces not just the bolts as all the ones you can buy are )all i need to do now is make them look nice without compromising any strength.
coating is an option but i dont want to make all the billet stand out (NOT) all the ali parts i make will be anodeised, unsure what colour but it will stand out as will all the plated steel parts. dont look at the outside of this car (that will be grey primer over carbon fibre) but the details inside will be what im working on. im not one for polishing a car thats for the number crunchers who can afford to own a number maching car (wish i was that rich )
progress has been a bit slow cos its been freeezin in the garage, i did manage to machine a pentastar into the shock mounts and tack a couple more tubes in place. i hope it warms up soon
Dunk , im not realy destined for a particular tag but im doing the best i can on a budget just because ive always wanted to build a tube frame car. it will be dependant on the motor and at the moment that will be the mildly built 440 i have so will be a bit slow. i do however have some of the parts to build the stroker motor and if funds allow i want to go for either a blower or turbos (depending on wich one of my mentors gets his own way ) i hope to have the car at the nats, although i dont think it will be ready to run. we all need to set time limits so we keep on track. oh back to your question im probably looking at street classes, maybe street eliminator although i know i cant beat the big boys i might stand a reasonable chance. my aim has always been to get into the 10s with a home built car. if i do better than that consistently i will be a happy man. if anyone wants to lend me a real race motor i wont refuse the offer

i was only asking, because if you find out the requirements, you are in a position now to build it right, no point in doing all the work that you are if you dont aim to make it the very best it can be on your budget the lower the no for tag you can build it to.
the more valueable it will be in the future, dont bother givin me all the ballony that you wont ever sell it because one day you prob will, i prob got 5k less for my chally because it would not tag so just think about it i am tryin to give you good advice, your work looks great so go that xtra bit even if you never competion the car you will know you could
Got to agree with Dunc, think you should target for highest spec, was 7.50 for non moly, unless it has changed. Wont really cost you any more, give or take a few extra bars & time. I'm sure some one on here must have the latest chassis spec.
