How do the plugs look?

I can rebuild your six pack for you but the parts are expensive and any tuning HAS to be done on the car.

Did the plugs look a normal colour or were they black? It is possible you had a leak from a carb into the engine. But you would only loose as much as was in one fuel bowl. That would not be enough to thin the oil that much unless it was happening on a regular basis.

Are the float levels set correctly?

you got an oil pressure gauge in there..bet that was struggling :shock:

Pull the centre bowl & check the power valve , could be a ruptured diaphram , you won't see any fuel coming out when looking over the throttle bores , will dump it straight into the engine.

If the power valve is @ fault you can get a modification kit that incorporates a blow out protection (base plate) , has the motor backfired @ some point?

david dont panic
just carry out a oil n filter change,
put some fresh plugs in, and wind the car over to try to start it say 3 stabs on the throttle and wind it over see if it starts, if it does not get out put a plug in one off your leads wind it over check for a spark, if ok lean over and check that non off the carbs are spilling fuel in, if any are take out the adjuster on the top off the bad carb and check there is no dirt under the needle/seat, blow it out with an air line put it back and recheck, even before pulling it out you can tap the top or front off the float bowl with a screwdriver handle that can sometimes stop a stickin needle,
i suspect you have just had some bad luck when you last tried to start it and really flooded the mtr bad thats what has put the fuel in the oil, and by the time you took the plugs out they had dried, just get the bad oil out off the mtr and get the bitch started,

David.

You check the fuel bowl level by removing the sight plugs on the fuel bowls. You adjust the float height with the nut on the top of each fuel bowl.

Loosen the screw slightly and then turn the nut to lower or raise the float and the valve. Try to do this at the same time with a screwdriver in one hand and a spanner in the other.

You need the fuel level only JUST high enough so that only a drop or two escapes from the sight hole as the engine idles.

If the fuel really leaks bad out of the hole you either have the float too high or the valve has some dirt in it as Duncan says.

thanks for the link dave to help him, i should have mentioned the sight hole and how to adjust the float heights, i get bored with typing eventuelly, :lol:
