cheers for the advice guys, the frame was designed to tag to 7.5 so 7.5 is what im aiming for, it will have all the relevent bars at the correct position. i thought about molly but it was just too expensive and i would never be able to affore a motor powerfull enough to use it to its full potential.

Jon, if you could dig that number out it would be apreciated, it all started out as throwing the 440 in my old duster but it just got out of hand so i supose its sensible to do it right first time so i can tag it as low as possible just in case i can afford to put a monster motor in it.
today was a slow day as i spent most of this morning talking ( cheers philth
goOd to catch up ) but i have managed to tack a few more tubes in, the cockpit floor area is now complete including a removable cross member to allow removal of the gear box. all thats left to do is the front end (4 tubes then make all the gusset plates and do the final welding (it sounds so simple if i say it fast
)

Hmm, no new posts has everyone lost interest
ive not got a lot done this week all i managed was some plates to bolt the frame to the body. all the pros use square plates but i didnt like that idea so i made these, they will work the same but look like some thought went into them. the cutout in the middle is to ensure that they are pefectly aligned to the tubes on the frame, also the bolt holes are designd to be a good fit on the bolts (0.05mm clearance) so no chance of movement. if all goes to plan the frame should be ready for final welding by the end of feb, i still need to make all the small gusset plates to go between the tubes.

Dusty, these weld to the frame and bolt to the body, most people weld the body to the frame but as i intend to change the body when funds will allow i decided to bolt it on.
db, work on your pickup is cool, ive repaired many cars like that, my favorite material is dexion racking, lots of holes to bolt things to or weld through.
