Well. My car is Hemi Orange. Which, like many of the Mopar "High Impact" colours, is a metallic with tiny flake in it.
So if the question is "would I like the flake to be a little less subtle, then yes, I would go for that.
But if you are asking if i would go for an outrageous candy flake job on my muscle car I would say a definite NO. Not on a muscle car. Unless it was a race car only.
A chevy impala convertible with hydraulic suspension however it would be a must.

There is the cheapskates way of doing...........lay the base colour down, grab sum coarse alluminium tinter off the mixing scheme.
Then spray it in the air directly over the vehicle then let it settle on it, lacquer away , the mk1 escort boys loved it many years ago

MOPAR - Move Over Power Arriving Rapidly
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My Mopar upon you

The top half of the Dart needs to be redone, I am hoping to do it this year, it will have some flake on it. Jeff, if you are still here I would love you to add some bits of artwork to it. I would have a full custom paint job, I think the fantastic fade away schemes that "Greg of Akron" did back then are timeless. There was bad custom paint back then that still looks awful, and the vanners prove that you can still make a pigs ear of it today. Too much flake and the car looks like a Christmas tree decoration, I was there the day that Naughty Alan's Charger (year's before he owned it) was totally done in red metalflake, took 50 coats of lacquer to cover it. The result was way beyond over the top. And then for some inexplicable reason he had "Roger Dodger" signwritten down the rear quarters. Awful.
“It’s good enough for Nancy”
The old flake jobs were a nightmare!. Using 1K clears took forever, and after a while just cracked up. Then getting it all off was a real bitch. Now the flake is so much better, and the HS clear coats cover it really well! 2-4 coats, and it is all nicely covered.
Anyway, Blue, I would love to tag your car with some paint!. We could build a temporary booth at your workshop, the way things are going, we will be going July/August, if all goes well with our medicals.
