First Deadly Snake Sighting!!!

Post by Kev »

Was out for a fish down Bulimba Creek. Sat on a bench, no fish action. Spotted what I thought were bait fish busting about, but then noticed a head sticking up. Waited for it to climb a shore. Strolled over expecting a lizard as I've seen them swimming about. Right at me feet was a 12" snake. Took some close up pics and video and followed it about. Looked it up when I got home.......Eastern Brown snake. Deadly. Me fisho mates reckon it could easily down 3 blokes even at that size!!! Later that day George brings home a dead red bellied black snake (also venomous), he was severely admonished of course. In the course of the admonishment I was telling him "What if it was playing dead" as he had found it on it's back, his reply; "D'uh! Red Bellied Black Snakes DON'T play dead, everybody knows that!!" Gotta love a precocious 10 yr old amateur herpatologist!!
Next day, the neighbour was telling me about a 10ft Carpet Python crossing the road outside her house the night before!! It headed over to a house that's up for rent and had an open viewing today!!! They are in for a surprise!!
I suppose this is Snake Season!!! 8-)

:runaway!: One thing i have a slight fear for Snakes, i think this is only down to ignorance on the subject and not coming into regular contact. I suppose if your brought up in a snake infested country, its like , "so what its a snake", over here the only one to worry about is the Adder and ive never seen one of them. Theyll be looking for somewhere to kip now Kev as its coming into your Winter.

This was my first sighting of a deadly snake when I walked out the garage door at my cousins last year in NC  This is a Water Moccasin (cotton mouth) highly venomous and aggressive pit viper one bit from this bad boy and it will lay you down. You can not shoo this snake away it is a case of you or him make no mistake this sucker will kill you if you do not get him first.................................
