I could imagine Ivor building and driving this

Its interesting to read that the skills required to build this where quite common then

There is also an interesting bit in the write up that mentions a Boy Mechanic Book aimed at 9 year olds,and today people in there 20s and older like me would struggle to do the projects how times have changed

He knew that I liked old cars from watching me on television. And he wanted to give me one.

That made me chuckle though.

Maybe the best thing about Philbert the Puddle Jumper is that it is a driveable and vital link to a very different time. A kid building a three-wheeled car and driving it for decades is something that could have happened once, but that world is lost forever.

Brilliant story. Brilliant little car. Love the system he designed to stop it flipping if the rear tyre blew.
