Great job on that headliner Rich, I fought with mine for two solid days with spring clips, hair driers the lot and ended up with exactly the same creases as you in the rear pillar...that's made me feel a whole lot better mate! :thumbright:

Liking those brakes...good enough to put on the mantelpiece!
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

I am not happy with my headliner either but I still ended up with a better result than the "professionals" that fitted the last one in 1989.

Cheers guys.

I just don't understand what possessed people to use that system for headliners in the first place. There HAS to be an easer way to install those things. Or a more user friendly item instead of the vinyl blanket?

I tried the first time with me and a mate and we couldn't do it. Plus we were so annoyed with the darned thing that it has sat in the car with just the bows in place for weeks until I had the desire and extra man power to go back at it. Frustrating thing.

At least now I have a benchmark. Nothing can be more hassle than that fraking headliner. :banghead:  [-o< :angryfire:

But now the most of it is done so hooray \:D/ :woohoo:

Glad my brakes are here (finally) I'm hoping to have a go at them in the next couple of weeks. If anyone has any hints/tips or suggestions for fitting a brake disc conversion kit I would appreciate any and all pointers :read2:

More updates and pictures when there's something to report.

Started on the brakes today but am stuck. Posted help in the brakes section, any help would be great. I don't think I'm missing anything, I reckon I just need to hit it harder(!)

More pics soon when something goes on right.

After going hopelessly wrong and appealing for help from the boards I am now finally making headway on the brakes.

Putting them on the correct side is the best way to start #-o but since I'm doing this with no instructions and making it up as I go I think I'm doing ok, maybe.

Got the drivers side ones on now, doing the master cylinder and passenger side tomorrow hopefully.

Any ideas which pair of connections I use for the front discs on the master cylinder? Like I said, there's no instructions.

That master cylinder is interesting, have you got any more connectors or plastic plugs on the other side?

Just one observation, it might just be the angle of the pic, but make sure the rubber brake hose doesn't rub against the suspension arm or shock on bounce and steer...sorry if you've already sorted that mate! ;)

I believe I am going to get some braided hoses made, suggested by Dave. The pipe is at an awkward angle isn't it. I just connected it up because it was there, I'm by no means ready to go out and drive yet(!) There's no fluid in it yet.

Here's a picture of the other side of the cylinder, no other connections. What are you pondering Mr Ivor?

On that brass block under the cylinder you should have three outlets. Two are a pair that go to each front brake. One on its own will be to run to the rear brakes. Via an adjustable proportioning valve I hope?

So on my diagram my existing brake lines go to connections 3 and 4 on the bottom brass section?

So what is the point of the pipes attached to the new master cylinder at the moment?

Do I have a connection for my rear brakes aswell? Or will I just have two front disc brakes and my rear drums are for the parking brake only, I'm a bit confused.

You are well confused aren't you.
Let me try again.

Leave the two existing pipes where they are. They feed that brass block.

There should be three outlets on the brass block. One goes to the rear brakes. There is only one brake pipe goes to the rear brakes and it splits over the rear axle to feed both drums.

Then there are two more outlets on the brass block for the front brakes. There is one brake pipe for each front brake.

You HAVE to make sure you get front and rear brakes connected to the correct outlets on that brass block. If they are not labled you need to find out which outlet is which.

That device with the wires on is the safety switch. Look at the block and divide it in two in your mind. Everything forward for the switch is one half and everything to the rear of the switch is the other half.

Now look at each half.
One half will only have one outlet. That will be for the rear brakes.

The other half will have two outlets. That will be for the front brakes.

That should get you right. :thumbright:
