STOP!! Don't do it!!
Atleast not with the stuff thats supposed to paint over red rusty things, because it doesn't stick to anything thats isn't corroded.Just peels off, or blows off with the airline. It doesn't adhere to good metal.
Someone showed me a test done by practical classic, and they had a weird result when they scratched the test piece.
You think its good because it costs loads, but that stuff is only good for red raw rusty stuff.
Its called "Rust Prevention Paint", the black stuff.
And it loses its colour when exposed to sunlight!!
I phoned Frost's and they didn't give a S**t

I happen to rate POR15! Used it on my impala chassis and it fell off the stand - paint was so tough it didn't even chip. POR15 will only work properly if you use METAL READY first. Frost's technical guys were brilliant and explained very carefully the process.
Oh well. Zinc primer and two pack is also good - did that on the Charger before putting the vinyl roof on.

Yeah I've used it before with and without the metal ready. So long as you key the surface well it will stick. Though I've used as an extra barrier from the elements on the underside of cars rather than to paint over rust.Patina Charger wrote:I happen to rate POR15! Seems some people having better results than I did.My mate also did some on his AMC Javalin, and he had problems too.
We both use metal ready first- now that is good stuff!!, but the POR 15 just didn't stick.I even sand blasted any bits with surface rust.I don't recommend it.
Just fitted a new Edelbrock 750CFM carb - £271 from Real steel.WOW!!
Think I need some different step up springs, but can drive around that for now, but goes better than the old Holley I had before, even after I rebuilt it.The carb actually says Weber on it.

First Official Duty was my daughter's Prom last night.
Took her and her 2 friends to Shrigley Hall.
Absolutely stole the show - people came running out of other parts of the hotel to see the General!! (don't think they see many horseless carriages up in t' hills!).
So had to do a number 11 right across the front car park and hoot me hooter.
When they got out, they got a round of applause.
They were definately the coolest kids there last night..
