Stainless trim removal
Has anyone got some advice on removing the stainless moulding from the drip rail above the doors on a B body. I am getting anxious cos the only ways I can see of doing it will probably end up in me damaging it.
Rear screen and front srceen stainless trim looks like it might be problematic also.
Thanks guys

the crimped on stuff is about impossible to remove without damaging. I just mask it. The screen surround stuff is OK, just need a thin tool to slide up behind the trim to pursuade it off the clip. This often breaks the clip. better to break a clip than twist the moulding though.
I'd love to hear any better suggestions?

Not wishing to sound like a big head, I've done it and had no problems...no damage to the trim and I used one of those tools you get in a cheap set of B&Q screwdrivers.
I think it's called a nail lifter, anyway I've attached a pic of the sort of thing I mean.
I placed the lifter under the trim, with the lever resting against the roof panel (I'm painting the car, so scratching it wasn't a problem and you need surprisingly little pressure to lift the trim slightly...anyway you could always protect the paint with a piece of cardboard or something).
Move along the trim a little at a time until you get to the corner, then come in from the other end.
I had both trims off in ten minutes with absolutely no damage.

That would be great Derek. Would also appreciate a little bit of your time mate explaining how it all comes off. Being a bit of a fanny over this because seeing how hard it has been for Dave to get the trim he needs, I dont want to bugger anything up.
Took a lot of interior out last night, softly softly catchy monkey, no damage done.
Tell you what, I cant get over the condition of the body. Its beautiful. Inside doors, sills, door bottoms, floor pans. Thank Christ for that
