Sway bar bushings

about to replace the bushings, but wanted to check the best method. Already found out from Blue that it's ok to cut the bushes to get them onto the bar, but is it just a case of brute force and ignorance to get them into the metal fittings that bolt to the car?

Can't see that the metal fittings come apart in any way, so is there a method to getting the old ones out, or should we just burn the buggers out?

Just wanted to check before applying the brute force and ignorance method.

BF&I method worked for me. It's such a pain in the arse job, but persevere and you'll get there...

Gees I hope I don't have to do them again in a hurry

Blue's right, slice thru 1 side to get the rubber over the bar, and get it 99% into position before you attempt to push into the metal frame.
I think I ended up using a pair of mole grips or 2, and don't forget the washing up liquid too

I'd forgotten about this post!

Sway bar back in now, old bushings still in as they seemed fine.

Will probably whip it out again this weekend and have another go at shoving 'em in the holes.

if they are the same as a second generation charger , & they are the stock OEM triangle type !!! cut the metal bracket at the top edge prize it open a little , slide the old bush off & slide the new one on

close up the bracket with the bush in place in a vice & carfully weld the bracket shut , wet the bush first & tack it let it cool & so on
