Power steering self steering to the left 69 Charger

Post by Anonymous »

I have the manual and I have followed what it says about adjusting the self steering to get it to the middle. I have tapped both ends of the valve body to get any sort of reaction and nothing so far.

Am I missing a trick? When the engine is running the wheels will turn all of the way to the left and no amount of 'tapping' on the top and bottom of the valve body makes any difference.

Is this really the way thay came up with for adjusting your steering? Hitting it with a hammer?

Is there another way?

I take it you are taping the right bit, it has a pipe coming from it, undo the two bolts just enough so that it will move with a tap, tighten the bolts back up and restart the car, you may have to do this a couple of times.

These bolts?

Loosen them, tap on them and then tighten them. Then start the engine? Repeat as required?

Well done Dell & Duke.

Duke , after trying to find a power steering pump cap with no luck , i found the oil filler cap on you're valve cover fits it a treat.
