caster camber problem

The lower arm did look a bit out of shape
so i started to remove it , pulled the inner bolt
and the bolt hole was elongated, welded on a couple of thick washers,
to hold the lower arm out, this did improve things a lot, still not right
but a lot better,
I don't know if i should just get the tracking done, and see how it drives,
or change the lower arm and try to get the front bushes equal

2 inches is a hell of a lot. You could see if its that bent.
My car hit the wall at the Pod and stayed together, but you can see where a strut rod has taken a hit; but the rest looks pretty good.
Measuring the Chassis legs could be a start.
Have you compared the lengths of the LCAs? Ditto the UCA's.
Are the Knuckles the same or has someone got "creative" during an earlier repair?
Stupid question, but are the wheel back-spacings the same?
What happens if you swap wheels from one side to the other??? Never assume anything, though they do look similar in the pictures...

Pete Theres nothing really obvious, they couldn't see anythingPete wrote:2 inches is a hell of a lot. You could see if its that bent.
when i had the tracking checked.
I ran a couple of string lines from the outside edge of each back
wheel just to check and they were right it was 2 inches out.
There are a few dings on the chassis where someones jacked it up
but nothing serious, measured both lower arms.
The front wheels came from raceways a few years ago
i will check the back space though you never know
thanks

John, The axle seems ok, checked the distance from the inner rimJohnR wrote:Read this and was wondering if the back axle was put on properly ????? you need the chassis specs and plumb line to check it I would think
to chassis and both sides were equal.
I cant understand how it still drives ok in a straight line
i would have thought it would be crabbing like crazy.
thanks

It does not matter if the front wheels are not perfectly in line with the rear wheels. As long as they all point in the same direction and the wheelbase measures the same each side wheel center to wheel center. You can shim behind one rear spring mount to adjust.
Most mopars have one pair of wheels offset from the other. It is rare that the axle is centered under the rear. In fact it is never centered by the factory.

check ya hubs and stub axles
if disk and hub are seperate parts check both fonts side by side
mis matched parts causes this and is not easy to spot.
for an exmple on an aussie
stick VH brakes (thats stub axles hubs disks calipers) on a earlier VF you widen the track by 2 inches each side. (which makes it illegal in some states)
big pile of parts and you wouldn't spot it.
if its a bent chassis the shocks could be at different angles to the vertical
but i think it will be mis-matched parts
a hit on a car that bends the chassis so much as to cause 2 inches difference would surely have left evidence elsewhere
a crease (floor, floor to kick panel front 1/4, sides of the bulkhead and plenum below the screen, a kink a slight crack to an A pillar at the roof or scuttle joint the money spent on covering it up would have paid to just get the thing pulled back out.
check ya door hinges
any evidence of re alignment. you can usually see marks in the paint at the hinge to body or hinge to door mount if someone has had to really re jig the doors check for stacks of washers between hinge and body or hinge and door
is the end of the striker pin all scuffed or the lock slot in the door end chewed
all would be evidence of the door hole having changed in shape and or size since created originally and it would with a chassis bending hit
the tyres match don't they 205 one side 225 the other????
your Kframe centally mounted ??
