Lower ball joint

Post by latil »

So I get home from Brooklands and decide to check out my r/h lower ball joint. Well, it all came apart in 1/2 an hour but the joint is nearly as bad as the left which I have replaced. Question is the book says 70 thou max end play, I've got about 53 thou on this one What is safe, what will pass the mot? assembled, the movement at the outer end of the stub axle is near on 3/16" magnify that to the edge of the tyre and it's significant. looks to me like another ?100 I've got to spend :( so I'm getting near the 1K just to get roadworthy  It was meant to be ready for Brooklands

Just been on the phone to Rodley . They have 39  of the joints in stock so ,I'm OK but they are in part of a consignment of spares going back to the States. Apparently they've had a sort out and anything slow moving or in demand in the US is going back home . Might be worth seeing what they have before its gone. :(
