360 small block magnum engine tuning
dilema on my hands
just got hold of a very late model 5.9 magnum injected v8 engine complete as removed
does amyone have any idea what power thgese are capable of producing by cam changes manifolds etc
is it worth trying to get the power from or do i stick with the old 360 la series engine?
after @400 ish bhp no gas - dreaming or need bigger wallet????

the motor ought to make around 250hp and dodge themselves got 300hp with cam and a few other mods easy so it shouldn't be a problem.
You could always procharger it, nice low boost jobbie for 400 hp
although there's headers, decent exhaust, throttle body mods, cold air intake, computer tuning chips,throttle body helix spacers and more to try first

AFAIK its a 360 with a factory roller cam and better heads when you pull the EFI & ECU stuff off it. So anything you can do to a 360 LA you can do to the 5.9 Magnum. Not 100% if the LA intakes go right on the Magnum heads, but I've heard of a fair few people swapping the Magnum heads onto a "regular" 318/360 as a cheap hop-up, so there must be a sollution...
and a little shufty round the site Miles linked to reveals this little gem

the actual differences between all the various versions of the 318 and 360 including Magnums. More too it than meets they eye, as ever!

I've got a book with all the specs of the 380hp crate motors somewhere, I'll try and find it on Saturday and post them up
What's the injection set up on these like? Is it individual injectors at the ports? I've never had a good look at one and was curious if they could be converted to throttle bodies (not that I'm a millionaire, you understand, just pondering..)
By the way, if you seen any of my previous forlorn messages, you'll know that I'm currently surrounded by LA 360 bits and a dismantled 318, so may be able to help you out with some parts if you're junking the inlet etc - I don't think I can afford to do much more than put my 318 back in and try and catch the summer now

For cams try one of these;

And as far as head swaps go I think these would work well;
