Stripping Front Suspension-what order

Hi guys,
All jacked up and ready to strip out 100% original and totally worn out '69 drum brake road runner suspension.

Could someone please give me a quick running order 1st to last for stripping out the whole lot as this will be the 1st time I've worked on torsion bar suspension.

Other main question is do I need to drop the K member- is it worth the extra hassle?

When i stripped my front end at Christmas i took it apart piece by piece on the car. when i put it back in i rebuilt it all onto the k-frame and installed it all in one,i wish i had taken it out in one to save time on the floor. See how I did mine in my work shop section. If you leave the k-frame in it makes it more difficult to remove the torsion bars as you have to try and knock them backwards out of the LCA without damaging them(special tool required).If you drop the k frame you can knock the k frame forward off the torsion bars(alot easier).to release tension on the torsion bars remove the upper bump stops the jack the car up and undo the torsion bar adjusting bolt to release all the tension then remove the circlip in the rear torsion bar socket and tap the torsion bar out.

Just West of you in Egham. May ask for the powder coating contact if my local is too pricey. Was £125 for just coating or did he do any blasting?

I did the blasting and they did the powder coating. If they do the blasting it will cost you alot more. the powder coater are friends of mine so if you want stuff done let me know first and i'll talk to them for you.

take any balljoints out of upper a lower control arms with them on the car.

using the correct big socket.

never done it but that was the sterling advice given on previous posts

easy to bend them all out of alignment if you crush them in a big vice

I Have the big socket for the upper control arm if you need to borrow it .
I also meant to say as Dave did loosen all bolts on the car before you drop the lot out.
