Door Hinges

Post by TW71 »

Can anyone tell me whats involved in repairing old door hinges,( lower 71b body)
Looks like the post the striker moves against has moved causing a loud clunk on opening the door fully! Thanks.

Have the hinges worn or does the striker need adjusting?

You can buy complete new hinges or repair kits which fit bushes and new pins in your existing hinges.

The job is much easier if you remove the front wing. But you can do it by removing the door only.

Once the hinges are repaired you need to line up the door with the sill and the rear quarter. When that is right you line up the wing with the door.

The striker is also adjustable.

Dave, the cylinder post that the striker moves on is crooked , looks like the bottom of it (the post) has come away from its location point (weld?)

I try to get another , dont know if Dunc has any?
Thanks for the advice :thumbright:

Memory is not so good but I think it is possible to replace the pin for the roller with a long setscrew and nut. I can't remember if you need to remove the hinge but if you do you can do it with those s shaped spanners for the A post bolts (support the rear of the door with a jack or similar)
