Just had a call from Pete Walton and the Jim Smith Project was fired up today at Hauser's and the motor sounds very crisp indeed, this is going to be quick!
I've loaded the video up to my web site, disregard the water at the end of the clip, it was only an an air lock in the system, it's running a right as ninepence now!

Its been a long time,, i promised Ivor and Martin i will be good....so for anyone out there who is curious..tried to sell it a few times to get a sensible car but i am not in the habit of turning a pile of money into a wallet full .So i shall keep the ole bus for the time being and try and get it to go in a straight line...Time has been at a premium over the last few years and its been garaged .In fact i have not taken the cover of it since last July....I shipped it in 2006 and i have raced it four times in 6 years????You could argue that it was waste of money and i would not argue ....So to recap best time 11.67 129 mph all over the track,sometimes both lanes :?Centre of gravity is bit of

What was the problem with your suspension Pete, do your front tubes support the shock towers ?
If the car is as light as you said it is, it should go easy 9.70 probably quicker.

How are you Mick,hope your well.. Mick it always moved about a bit, like an over loaded van when the steering goes light. And yes the towers were the origional 70s set up.One is now 20mm taller than the other.. But i am not convinced that was the problem as it was loose before that failed... Need to get the arse down,,got three inches from the top of the slick to the top of the wheel arch ....so i figure i can half that also the front k member is an early style one with the unsupported idler arm,>.At some stage this has been adapted to the later style and i have never been happy with it,, So we will try a few things and see what happens....Should have a bit more time now Dave has retired
Sorry typo, i meant 9.70 not 10.70, i hope you sort it out, i think it's got a lot of potential, is all the steering gear in good condition ?, have you had the front end aligned, ? what is it doing, wandering.
I had an issue with mine one year, i thought the alignment was off but it was a worn idler arm.

Mick i will go threw the lot ,,, First thing is to get the shock towers sorted,then i will lower the back ,, told buy someone to change the front runners from 24s to 26s..., They say the front has too much travel because of the size of the rear slicks....a taller front tyre will help...I have no idea if that is true but its a cheep thing to try ,,so i will give it a go
