Been telling people for years to leave a couple of threads showing (Remember Jeff Browns BR&L breaking rocker adjusters?) and have even posted photos showing this.
But I always thought it was to avoid interference between rocker and pushrod cup. This oiling issue would never have occured to me.

As i've said Dave , if the manufacturers of these parts just explained these things then a lot of engines would still be living , why don't they give instuctions stating this? , just crazy.

Seems you gotta have yer eyeballs on everything , yet sooo simple when you know , this mostly being when the engines gone tits up & yer lookin for an explination.:roll:
