It clanks going round corners and as i straighten it gives off quite a bang. No probs going in a straight line. I'm new to LSDs (no jokes) so not sure what to expect.
Its pretty basic and having looked more closely at the Richmond gear website i might have selcted the race/strip version.

Miles, it depends how tight it is set up...some like em tight and they make a noise....infact the G.N is quiet as a mouse in a straight line but slow round corners you can hear the clutches grabbing, nowt wrong with it.
it normally a racers preference to have them set tight

Reading the description, I can understand why it makes all these noises. It certainly seems to be quite 'agricultural' in its design, but I would imagine it must be very strong as a result.

Looking at the picture I'm surprised the "dogs" don't get damaged engaging and dis-engaging, but maybe I'm missing something.
The Dana "Tru-traks" work using hypoid gears, so I'm told. That was silent and when turning you would have thought it was an open axle. All a mystery to me
Thanks for that, chaps. It really is agricultural and the noise of the gears engaging around corners is clearly audible to pedestrians.
I'm more concerned that after cornering there seems to be a bang as the locker disengages.
Its not subtle. At one point i stopped driving, jacked the car up and checked everything for movement with no obvious results.
does rather feel like a 'race only' set up (no corners required!) currently
after driving the car for an hour the locker isnt that bad. I topped up the diff oil which helped too the trick is to get on the gas asap coming out of corners and the thing just hooks up. Really chirps the tyres as the last vid shows
