Kickdown linkage

Post by Anonymous »

when should kickdown be operative?

At the moment I`ve got 3-2 downshift at anyting up to 45mph but it won`t function at any higher speeds :?
Have tried setting throttle rod in several positions to no avail.
Do I need to check anything on the trans?

NEIL you need to hold the carb lever and press it fully open, at this point it should fully push the kickdown rod fully rearward the carb needs to be able to open fully just as the kickdown rod is fully pressed and stops rearward, hope this helps, also check the kickdown rod and or linkage is not getting fould on say the bulkhead any thing at the back off the cylinder head etc and making you think it is fully back but isent

ok I`ll give it a go, but I`m sure out of the many configurations I`ve tried I must have tried this. Pretty sure the linkage isn`t being fouled anywhere. I`ll start checking at the bottom on the gearbox end and work my way up.
cheers
